A bold and provocative new production of Oscar Wilde’s Salomé comes to London, presented by the legendary Israeli Gesher Theatre and directed by acclaimed European stage director Maxim Didenko.

Written in 1891 and banned in Britain for many years, Wilde’s poetic one-act play plunges the audience into a dark, decadent world where obsession and desire lead to a fatal climax. Salomé, the stepdaughter of Herod Antipas, becomes infatuated with John the Baptist. When her passion is rejected, tragedy unfolds.

Gesher Theatre’s interpretation is a visual feast, where “beauty becomes a weapon and a kiss can mean death.” This marks the company’s first UK appearance in 25 years. Based in Jaffa, Gesher is internationally renowned for its artistic collaborations and its mission to build cultural bridges across worlds.
